Great question.
I think the answer is no. Although the traditional definition would argue otherwise, Libraries have evolved beyond that point.
Most public libraries see themselves as information centers and culture places. Movies, social discourse, computers and music are all very much a part of the library world.
On a tangent, there are also digital librarians who do nothing with books... their sole responsibility is online information. I had a the semi-pleasure of working as a digital seriels librarian for awhile. tsk tsk tsk... NIGHTMARE!
