LIS Blogs in India

Sri Badan Barman of Guwahati has compiled a list of 44 Library and Information Science Blogs in India. He has picked these from 69 blogs after hard work of ten days. He feels that Indian LIS bloggers are not professional enough to attract large number of readers. He advises bloggers to remain focussed on one or two themes.

Anyway, let me console myself - I write for myself.

Hi,

Last week I attended INDEST-AICTE WORKSHOP & 6TH ANNUAL MEET at IIT Powai. Many presentations were focused on Lib 2.0 applications. Most the participants were not aware about these applications.

Blogging one of the tool of Lib 2.0 is now catching up in Indian library professionals. I also have my personal blog (http://library-profession.blogspot.com)It is important that one should be aware of what is happening in our own field and also one should be able to implement it for library users.

I am happy to share that I had taken initiative to start our own library blog (http://www.amlnia.blogspot.com) for insurance professionals. Though it is recently introduced, it is now used by our internal as well as outside users. Though we got many hits, users are not taking active participation through comments as they are still new. Hence we have started marketing of our Blog but it may take time.

I think professionalism dependes upon type of blog you are creating (Personal / Institutional) and through experience also.

I must say your blog is really informative and I am your subscriber!!
